Victoria Jones, aka Catherine Price (Allison McAtee), was the main villainess from the 2023 Lifetime film, A Nurse to Die For (airdate April 14, 2023).
Backstory and Introduction[]
Catherine Price's backstory revealed that she was a wife and mother, but a year prior to the film's events, she lost her husband Dean and daughter Christine in a two-car collision, with the driver of the other car, Amy Martin, being killed as well. Catherine survived the crash, but in the time that passed, she went into a deep depression over the loss of her family, which she blamed on Amy.
Catherine's depression and anger led her to stalk Amy's family, which consisted of husband Liam Martin (the film's main protagonist) and his daughter, Corinne Martin, who suddenly suffered a respiratory attack. Catherine used the opportunity to introduce herself to Liam as an applying live-in nurse for Corinne, doing so under the name Victoria Jones. She made an impression on Corinne, but to make sure she got hired, Victoria posed as a past patient named Eleanor and provided a glowing review for herself.
Events[]
Victoria's plan was to have Liam and Corinne serve as a replacement for her own family. She continued to charm the pair, while also beginning to flirt with Liam and wear Amy's dresses, with the latter action being noticed by Amy's mother and Corinne's grandmother, Miriam Hoffman, who scolded Victoria for her actions. In addition, Victoria made cups of tea for Corinne, which she would poison in an attempt to make the girl ill so she could be around Liam more. However, Victoria would encounter an obstacle in the form of Liam's co-worker, Beverly, who sampled Victoria's tea and became ill herself.
Later on, Victoria set up a dinner date with Liam, but once they were caught by Miriam, Victoria planted a pamphlet for child custody on Miriam to drive a wedge between her and Liam. However, Beverly not only found out that she was drugged, she also figured out Victoria's true identity and confronted her, to which Victoria accused Beverly of attempting to take her family from her. The madwoman drugged Beverly to keep her from talking. Unbeknownst to her, Liam also learned that Victoria wasn't sent by the same agency who had sent the other applicants, and his call to "Eleanor" saw Victoria mistakenly reveal her real surname before hanging up in a panic.
Climax and Death[]
The film's climax saw Victoria confronted by Miriam, who attempted to dispose of Victoria's tea, only to be attacked and drugged by the villainess. Corinne entered the kitchen and saw her grandmother incapacitated. She ended up chased by Victoria, who captured and tied up Corinne and Miriam before knocking out Liam and tying him up as well. The insane villainess later appeared and served dinner to her "family," while revealing her plan to become a new wife for Liam and a mother for Corinne.
Victoria/Catherine revealed that it had been exactly one year since she lost her family in the accident, while voicing her blame towards the deceased Amy, and claimed that she would take Amy's family to make up for Amy (In her mind) taking hers. Liam pretended to appease Victoria, with the distraction allowing Miriam to strike the villainess, only for Victoria to attack Liam while attempting to strangle him. At that moment, Miriam picked up a knife and plunged it into Victoria's back, killing the villainess.
Victims (all survived)[]
- Beverly (drugged to prevent from reporting her)
- Miriam Hoffman (drugged, Miriam then stabs Victoria to death at the end)
- Liam Martin (knocked out by an empty fire extinguisher, then attempted to strangle and failed)
Trivia[]
- Victoria Jones is similar to fellow Lifetime villainess Gabby Wright from 2014's Deadly Daycare. Both women were involved in a car accident that resulted in their children being killed, became obsessed with revenge on the other party involved, and planned to steal the protagonists' daughters to raise in order to fill the void of their loss. The only differences are that Gabby's husband survived and was left paralyzed, with her seeking revenge on the also alive Rachel and her husband, while Victoria's husband died along with their daughter and her plan attempted to fill another void left by her deceased husband by targeting the late Amy's family.
- Victoria is also similar to fellow Lifetime villainess Liz Kimble from 2024's The Wrong Life Coach (also played by Allison McAtee); both had fake jobs to manipulate their clients and attempted to eliminate the protagonists' respective loved ones. But there are two differences: Victoria lost her entire family in a car accident and never intended to kill anyone, while Liz had been abused by both of her parents and successfully murdered her life coach (while also thinking she killed the protagonist's friend).
