Villainous vampiress Valentina

Valentina (Natalie Paul) is the main protagonist villainess from Suicide by Sunlight, a short film released on February 27, 2020.

Valentina is a vampiress who works as a nurse, and she is able to walk freely in the daytime due to her melanin protecting her from sunlight. The film also reveals that she is a mother of two daughters, Hope and Faith; however, she is in a custody battle with her ex-husband, Langston, who forbade Valentina from seeing her daughters. An attempt to see Hope and Faith was stopped by Langston, who urged Valentina to "control herself" before she could contact her daughters again, with Valentina learning that Langston had a girlfriend, Kira, tending to the girls.

Afterwards, Valentina took a train to a nightclub, where she seduced a blonde woman before feeding off of her. The vampire villainess did the same to three more victims shortly afterwards, and she was shown throwing up in the toilet after her villainous and violent conquests. The following day, Valentina spotted her patient, a young boy named Micah, dying, leading to Valentina biting Micah and turning him to save him, after which she spit out Micah's blood.

Later on, Valentina spotted Kira with Hope and Faith and tracked them back to their house, where she asked Hope to let her in. Hope does so and assured her mother that Langston wasn't home, after which Valentina encountered Faith, who called Kira and told her that her mother was in the house. Valentina told the girls to leave so she and Kira could talk privately, with the conversation starting with Kira stating that Langston told her about Valentina being a vampire. As Valentina walked closer, Kira asked if they could wait for Langston to arrive and told her to put the girls first, adding that she loved them as much as Valentina did.

However, Valentina unleashed her heel persona by flashing her yellow eyes at Kira, right before attacking and killing Kira by feeding off of her. After Hope and Faith arrived, the evil Valentina referred to her actions as a mistake, adding that she was scared and that everything was fine before urging the girls to come with her. The villainess informed the girls they didn't have to be scared of her, stating they were more like her than they knew; at this point Faith took Valentina's hand and revealed her own yellow eyes, establishing the girls were vampires like their mother.

Personality[]

  • The film suggests Valentina's being a vampire was a reason for why Langston prevented her from seeing their children, which portrayed Valentina in a sympathetic light. However, the scene showing Valentina seducing and feeding on her victims indicated that her evil actions and habits were more of a reason, and her attack and murderous actions towards Kira cemented Valentina as a violent and bloodthirsty villainess.
