Vehicular villainess Nicole Bennett
Nicole Bennett (Miranda Handford) is a hidden (remorseful) villainess from "Coming to You Live," episode 2.14 of Flashpoint (original airdate October 23, 2009; U.S. airdate July 2, 2010). She is the assistant to mayoral candidate Ryan Malone.
Ryan Malone was a guest on Cosgrove in the Morning, hosted by noted radio talk show host Pat "The Lion" Cosgrove, who suddenly held his guest at gunpoint and demanded the truth from Ryan regarding the events of June 2, 2009--threatening to kill Ryan if he didn't confess. On that day, Ryan and his friend, Cody Ackerman, were leaving a frat party when their car flipped over and crashed on the side of the road. Ryan survived, but Cody was killed, and it was believed in the decade that passed that Cody was behind the wheel while drunk on the night in question.
Cosgrove, who later revealed himself as Cody's birth father, accused Ryan of being the actual drunk driver, and also claimed that Ryan switched seats with Cody after the accident. Jules Callaghan finally caught up with Nicole and asked her about the accident, with Nicole denying that Ryan was driving and referring to his immense stance against drunk driving as part of his political platform. However, the investigation's progression revealed an old photo of Ryan and Cody with Nicole, leading Jules to confront Nicole and demand the entire truth.
It was at that moment that Nicole phoned Cosgrove and revealed the true story of the event in question: Nicole, not Ryan or Cody, was driving that evening. Nicole was in a relationship with Cody at the time, and she drove the pair from the party, stating that she didn't think she had a lot to drink. She was impaired enough to cause the accident that killed Cody, and under Ryan's order, Nicole helped Ryan place Cody in the driver's seat, with both of them stating that Cody wouldn't have wanted Nicole to be in so much trouble for the accident. As a result, though, Cody was blamed in the entire decade that passed, though Nicole expressed tearful remorse during her confession. After SRU entered and diffused the situation between Ryan and Cosgrove, Nicole was shown in handcuffs exiting her house, as she was arrested for the 2009 death of Cody Ackerman.
