Lady Fiona Pembroke

The scheming Lady Fiona Pembroke

Lady Fiona Pembroke (Vanessa Hudgens) is the main villainess from the 2020 Netflix film, The Princess Switch: Switched Again, the sequel to the 2018 film, The Princess Switch.

Introduction[]

Lady Fiona Pembroke is the daughter of Lord Percival Pembroke (who died of a peanut allergy), as well as the identical cousin of co-main protagonist Lady Margaret Delacourt (also played by Hudgens). She, along with her servants, Reggie and Mindy, appeared at an elaborate event and greeted Margaret and Kevin (Margaret's on-and-off boyfriend), while also meeting Princess Stacy Di Novo (also played by Hudgens); recognizing her as the woman who switched places with Margaret.

It was revealed that Fiona had received a hefty inheritance following her father's passing; however, after Reggie was shown stealing a wallet from one of the guests, it was ultimately revealed that he and Mindy had been robbing the guests under Fiona's orders, as she was desperate for money after spending her family's fortune. Upon meeting with her servants, Fiona lashed out at the pair for their meager thefts, with Mindy venting over Margaret being set to become queen instead of Fiona. Mindy's statement led to Fiona's devising the following plan: switch places with Margaret, take the throne, and use her position to rob the royal treasury.

Plot and Switch[]

Reggie and Mindy dyed Fiona's blonde hair brunette as part of the plot, which also saw the pair teach Fiona how to walk, talk, and act like Margaret. Unbeknownst to the villainous faction, Stacy and Margaret were planning their own switch as part of their plan to bring Margaret and Kevin closer together, which saw Stacy pose as Margaret, unbeknownst to Prince Edward (Stacy's husband), while the real Margaret went out with Kevin. After learning from Edward about how Stacy and Margaret pulled off their original switch (from the first film), Fiona and her servants went to a gala event to proceed with their scheme, which included Reggie accidentally spilling a drink on "Margaret"'s dress.

Mindy later took "Margaret" to the ladies' room, where the evil Fiona chloroformed her victim and allowed her servants to abduct her, cackling as she took Margaret's place while Stacy was taken to the abandoned Pembroke Manor. After rudely brushing off an old college friend of Margaret's, the scheming villainess returned to the palace, where she was shocked to hear Margaret's voice as she returned home as well. Margaret thanked "Stacy" for helping her with Kevin, leading to Fiona using her natural accent to run Margaret off, after which she phoned her servants and told them that they had abducted Stacy, not Margaret.

Knowing that the plan was to cut and run, Fiona decided to use her status to move up Margaret's coronation from a day later (Christmas Day) to the current day, and after Kevin arrived, the villainess continued posing as Margaret and broke up with him. All the while, Margaret had figured out that "Stacy" was actually Fiona after Mrs. Donatelli arrived and stated that "Margaret" had fired both her and Frank, and later on, Antonio Rossi (Margaret's Chief of Staff) quickly exposed Fiona by pointing out her finger tattoo. However, Antonio decided to collude with Fiona for a cut of the treasury, and they were shown at the cathedral attempting to proceed with the coronation.

Climax and Arrest[]

Fiona in Custody

At that moment, Margaret, Stacy, and the others arrived and stopped the coronation, while exposing Fiona as an imposter, with Stacy revealing that she was abducted by Fiona's servants in a case of mistaken identity. Antonio attempted to have Margaret arrested, only for Margaret to remind Antonio that she realized she was ready to be queen and have him arrested for treason. As for Fiona, she attempted to talk her way out of any guilt by stating that she had abducted Stacy and not Margaret, only for both women to remind the villainess that she had committed treason.

Fiona stated that she didn't mean to commit her actions and added that she had it difficult growing up with parents who despised her, with Margaret reminding Fiona that her parents actually loved her. Fiona later expressed her remorse for her actions, adding that she knew she could never live up to Margaret's expectations, and she knew that Margaret was worthy of being queen, while stating that Margaret was the only family that she truly had. Following Fiona's apology, the benevolent Margaret informed her cousin that she would request a reduced sentence for Fiona, along with many years of community service, but as Margaret was about to phone Kevin, Fiona reminded Margaret that she sent Kevin away to continue her ruse. Fiona was arrested for her crimes, though she was shown during Margaret's coronation, applauding her cousin while in police custody.
