Bee

Villainous cult leader Bee

Bee (Samara Weaving) was the main villainess from the 2017 horror-comedy, The Babysitter; only to be redeemed in the 2020 sequel, The Babysitter: Killer Queen.

1st Film[]

Bee was introduced as the babysitter for Cole Johnson, and in her first appearance, she saved Cole from neighborhood bully Jeremy before taking Cole home to begin her duties. It wasn't revealed how long Bee had been babysitting Cole, but the film established their close bond. Late that night, Bee sent Cole to bed, only for Cole (under the advice of his best friend/love interest, Melanie) feigned being asleep and spied on Bee, resulting in him seeing Bee and a group of her friends--John, Sonya, Samuel, Max, and Allison--hanging out in his living room.

However, what starts out as a party becomes dark when Bee stabs Samuel to death with a pair of daggers inside his skull, with the others taking Samuel's blood. It was revealed that the five of them were members of a demonic cult, with Bee as the leader, and after killing Samuel, the villainess revealed her plan to take Cole's blood, as they needed to mix the blood on an innocent with that from a sacrifice. Cole feigned being asleep after witnessing what happened, but he ended up passing out and tied up to a chair, after which he asked the group what they had been doing. Bee attempted to deceive Cole by telling him they were working on a science project, but Cole doesn't buy the claim, and it was at that moment that police arrived and answered his call, only for both cops to end up killed by the group.

Cole managed to defeat and kill John, Max, and Sonya, but was pursued by Bee on his way to Melanie's home, where Cole told Melanie everything that occurred. After Bee shot and killed Allison, she revealed to Cole that she made a deal with the Devil to sacrifice innocents and spilling their blood on an ancient spell book while reciting his verses, while adding that she would most likely move on to another charge and pose as a sitter as part of her scheme. The villainess made an offer to Cole to join her, only for Cole to burn the book before running off and stealing Juan's (Melanie's father) car, which he drove into the house and crashed into Bee. Cole and Bee shared one last emotional bond before the latter appeared to succumb to her injuries, but the film's end saw Bee kill a firefighter who inspected the house.

Sequel[]

Bee Killer Queen

Bee in The Babysitter: Killer Queen

The 2020 sequel saw Bee return via flashback scenes involving the other cult members, who were resurrected to take part of a blood ritual during a trip to the lake. Melanie turned heel and became part of the cult, and it was in the film's climax that Bee resurfaced from the lake and joined the ritual, which saw Cole and new student Phoebe Atwell captured. After Phoebe called out Bee by name, it was revealed that Bee was Phoebe's sitter years prior to the events, and she drove Phoebe back to retrieve her favorite toy: a stuffed bunny. Unbeknownst to Phoebe, her parents were in their own car to give the bunny to their daughter, and the two cars ended up crashing, with Phoebe's parents killed and both Bee and Phoebe hospitalized.

Bee asked a nurse about Phoebe, only to be told that she was dying before the nurse revealed herself as a demon (or possibly the Devil) and asked Bee what she would do to save her. Bee sold her soul to save Phoebe, leading to her actions leading to and during the first film's events. She later witnessed Melanie and her four cohorts drink the mixed blood--belonging to Cole and Boom-Boom (Melanie's sacrifice)--only for the blood to have no effect on them.

Bee later revealed that Cole and Phoebe had sex recently, meaning that Cole's blood was no longer innocent, and after the villainous quintet disintegrated, she also revealed that she set up everything to bring Cole and Phoebe together to stop the cult. The redeemed Bee stated that Cole's emotional words to her in the final moments of the first film led to Bee's change of heart, but afterwards, she took the blood and drank it herself, adding that she is still a demon and had to save the pair. Bee gave an emotional goodbye to her two friends before she disintegrated.

Personality[]

  • In the first film, Bee was displayed as a ruthless cult leader who was not above harming or even killing Cole, though even as a heel in the first film, she maintained some semblance of care and friendship with Cole. Her care about Cole was increased in the sequel, as it led to her ultimate redemption during the film's climax. As a result, a surprise Face-Heel Double Turn occurred between Melanie and Bee during the films; the first film saw Melanie as a protagonist while Bee was the main villainess, but the sequel ended with Bee becoming a redemptive face after Melanie's surprise heel turn.
