The villainous Barbara
Barbara is the main villainess from Selfish Mother Ruined Her Son's Family, Karma Instantly Hit Her Back, a short film released by DramatizeMe (release date March 30, 2021). She is the mother of main protagonist Joe, and the grandmother of Joe's son, Earl.
However, the film began with Barbara attempting to convince Joe that Earl was not his biological son, claiming that Earl's dark-colored hair and his frail state were evidence of her accusation. In response to Joe stating that he was once frail at Earl's age (9), Barbara stated by at age nine, each of the men in her family could play sports, while Earl couldn't, and later warned Joe about Amy, claiming that she wasn't to be trusted.
The callous mother even went as far as to accuse Amy of having an affair prior to Earl's birth, adding that a neighbor spotted a man with Amy at that time and claiming that Earl resembled him. Joe dismissed his mother's claims, only for Barbara to give Joe a DNA test for him to perform on Earl, even going as far as suggesting that Joe was a weak man afraid of the truth. A reluctant Joe went through with his mother's demand, taking a spoon Earl had used from a cafe they visited.
Amy found out about Joe's plan to perform a DNA test, leading to an argument that saw Amy "confess" that Earl wasn't Joe's son, while lashing out at Joe for listening to Barbara. Joe leaves and returns to his mother's home, where he picked up the mail but looked for the DNA test results. Barbara informed her son that they both knew the true results, but Joe later found the results crumpled up in the trash, and they revealed the truth: Joe was Earl's biological father.
The discovery revealed that not only was Barbara incorrect in her suspicions, but she tossed the results in the trash to hide the truth from Joe, who realized that Barbara was nothing more than a villainess who set out to destroy his family out of hatred for Amy and a desire to control her son. The villainess insisted that there was a mistake on the test and that Amy confessed, only for Joe to explain that Amy only made her false confession due to the fact that Joe confronted her, while lashing out at Barbara's "advice" by calling it "stupid." In response, the evil Barbara informed Joe that she was his mother and that she would call the clinic, continuing her delusional belief, only for Joe to stand up to his diabolical mother and state that he would no longer listen to her again, after which Joe left and reconciled with Amy.
