Evil mastermind Tara
Tara (Brittany Underwood) is the hidden main villainess from the 2022 Lifetime film, Mother's Deadly Son (airdate November 11, 2022).
Backstory[]
Tara is the best friend of main protagonist Marianne Davis, a divorced mother of sons Ayden and Jacob Davis. She was also dating Nick, who was the father of Ayden's teammate, Nathan, but in actuality, Tara had an affair with Jacob, who was 16 years of age at the time. The affair took place two years prior to the events, and regarding Ayden, he found out about his brother's illicit relationship when he caught Jacob and Tara together, and recorded video of the pair in bed.
Tara panicked after learning that Ayden found out about their relationship, and under her urgency, Jacob challenged Ayden to a rock-climbing contest, with the stipulation that Ayden would delete the video if Jacob won. Ayden won the contest, but unbeknownst to Jacob, Tara was counting on this, as she was planning to kill him to protect her secret. After Ayden reached the top of the mountain, Tara appeared with Nathan's bat and bludgeoned Ayden to death, with Jacob seeing his brother's body fall from the mountain.
Events[]
In the two years that passed, Jacob was left to be accused of killing his brother, and eventually placed on house arrest after his story didn't add up. All the while, Tara cover up her villainous role and served as a supportive friend for Marianne, but after Jacob's house arrest, the villainess started to throw him under the bus for Ayden's death, even claiming to Marianne that Jacob was following her and had an obsession with her. This led to Jacob confronting Tara in her house, but after he left, the evil Tara used his appearance to set him up as an attacker, injuring herself and framing Jacob for it.
The film's climax saw Marianne discover a racy letter, leading her to believe it was written to Ayden. A confrontation with Nathan and Stephanie (the latter being Ayden's girlfriend) led to the former revealing that Tara was dating his father; all the while, Tara was released from the hospital, only for Jacob to hold the villainess at gunpoint and take her to the rock mountain. Marianne tracked the pair, with Tara seeing her friend and screaming for help, after which Jacob informed his mother that Tara killed Ayden. Marianne agreed with Jacob, and learned that Jacob was the one Tara wrote the letter to, as they were in a relationship. He added that Ayden found out, leading to Tara setting up to contest as part of her plan to kill Ayden.
The villainess denied everything at first, claiming that Jacob was lying to cover his tracks, but she ended up confessing to their affair and her murderous plan. Tara boasted that Jacob couldn't prove anything, only for Jacob to present what he claimed was Ayden's phone, which had video of the pair together, after which Tara tossed dirt in Jacob's eyes and fought with Marianne over the gun. The scuffle ended with Tara slipping and nearly falling, hanging on and pleading for help. Marianne pulled up her former friend before punching her, and as Jacob revealed, the phone was his old one, and he had recorded Tara's confession, resulting in her arrest.
