The psychotic Simone Hicks
Simone Hicks (Amber Riley) was the main villainess from the 2022 Lifetime film, Single Black Female (airdate February 5, 2022).
Backstory[]
Simone Hicks' backstory revealed that she was the result of a one-night stand between Marcus Harris (the mayor of Houston) and a woman who worked on his campaign. Simone's mother was paid to keep his affair and his love child a secret, though Simone had figured out that Marcus Harris was her father. She had dreams of seeing her biological father, and even resorted to killing her own mother out of anger, doing so by setting her house on fire.
A few months prior to the events, Simone met with Marcus, who reached out to her, with Simone voicing her elation over finally meeting her biological father. She voiced her desire to become a family with Marcus, who later told Simone that she couldn't be in his life due to his reputation, leading to an angry Simone poisoning Marcus' drink in response, killing her father instantly.
Events[]
Having known about Marcus' family, including her older half-sister, Monica Harris, Simone appeared at the set of the talk show, Tea Time, and introduced herself to Monica as her newly hired assistant. The madwoman's hiring was part of her plan to have Monica to herself, which later included seducing and drugging Monica's boyfriend, Andre, and sending the pics to Monica via text. Simone later inserted herself into the home of Monica's neighbor, Mrs. Whitaker, and surprised Monica with the claim that she was living next door to her. However, when Mrs. Whitaker told her to leave, Simone killed and beheaded Mrs. Whitaker in response.
Simone turned her attention to Elodie Price, Monica's friend and rival for the hosting gig, and after overhearing Elodie joke about sabotaging Monica, the villainess informed Monica and Bebe (Monica's best friend) that Elodie was trashing Monica behind her back, leading to friction between the pair. Simone overheard Elodie and Monica's argument, and later that evening, the villainess attacked and brutally beat up Elodie, leading to her hospitalization. The villainess continued to befriend Monica, as well as flirt with their co-worker, Eric, who Monica went on a date with. Out of jealousy, Simone attempted to sabotage Monica and Eric's relationship by making a claim to the latter that Monica wasn't over Andre.
Upon learning about Simone being in Monica's professional life, Denise Harris (Monica's mother) met with Simone and (having also known about Simone being Marcus' daughter) attempted to pay Simone $100,000 to stay away from Monica, leaving the villainess fuming in anger. After killing Andre, who figured out what Simone had done to him, Simone visited Denise and turned down her hush money, and later presented Mrs. Whitaker's head to Denise before attacking her.
Climax & Death[]
Monica found a DVD that recorded Simone with Andre, leading to a confrontation that saw Simone fired by Monica. However, Simone appeared to Monica again in the parking lot and abducted her via drugging her with chloroform, with the film's climax seeing Monica in her childhood bedroom, tied up and gagged by Simone, who revealed that her actions regarding Andre were committed to show Monica that he wasn't good enough for her. The villainess later admitted to killing Mrs. Whitaker, as well as her other crimes, which included abducting Denise, whom she had tied up and gagged in the bedroom closet. In response to Monica asking for a motive, Simone revealed her true identity as Monica's younger half-sister, while voicing her jealousy of Monica's perfect family in comparison to her life with her mother.
Simone also revealed that she met with Marcus and eventually killed him when he refused to accept her in his life, and later announced her plan to kill herself, Denise, and Monica in a double-murder/suicide by setting the house on fire with formaldehyde. Before she could, Bebe appeared and subdued Simone before helping Denise and Monica escape, only for Simone to attack Bebe and leave her unconscious. Afterwards, Monica appeared with a metal rod and stabbed Simone to death before saving Denise and Bebe.
