Psychotic villainess Shelly

Shelly (Rachel Alig) is the main villainess from the 2018 film, The Cleaning Lady.

Backstory[]

Shelly's backstory was revealed via flashbacks; years prior, she was in an abusive household with her divorced mother, Colleen, who continuously pimped out Shelly to various men for money--despite Shelly's protests. Shelly later attacked one of Colleen's customers with a knife, though during the melee, she ended up with boiling water tossed on her face by the same man, permanently scarring her. Colleen tended to her daughter's injuries, but only doing so to continue her plan of selling her for sex, while ignoring Shelly's pleas to go outside the house.

Shelly lashed out at Colleen and voiced her hatred of her evil mother, leading to Colleen attacking Shelly and threatening to cut off her tongue with a pair of scissors. Colleen relented and hugged Shelly afterwards, only for Shelly to stab her mother in the back with the scissors, screaming at Colleen as she forced the scissors further in her back.

Events[]

Colleen survived the attack, though Shelly held her mother prisoner and force fed her blended remains of rats. In the film's events, Shelly worked as a cleaning lady and met main protagonist Alice, who was in an illicit relationship with Michael, a married man. The pair became friends and spent time together, and regarding the subject of Shelly's scars, Shelly claimed that her facial scarring was an accident. As the film progressed, Shelly developed an obsessive affinity for Alice, and after Alice dressed up Shelly, a later scene saw Shelly drug a sleeping Alice and later created a mold mask of Alice's face, which she wore while bathing.

The obsession continued entering the film's climax, as Shelly attacked and chloroformed Alice before taking her to her home and tying her up with duct tape. As a shocked Alice discovered, Shelly also duct-taped a knife to Alice's hands, and had also taken Michael hostage, with the villainess ordering Alice to kill him as part of her twisted way of helping Alice get over Michael. Shelly tortured Michael by pouring a form of acid on him and down his throat, while repeating her ordered to kill Michael to keep him from suffering. Alice stabbed Michael to death under his own order, all the while, Helen (Michael's wife) had tracked both Alice and Michael to the house, as she had suspected their affair.

Helen freed Alice, only to end up beaten to death with a shovel by the evil and demented Shelly, who later chased Alice to her car. The villainess smashed through the window and drugged Alice, and the film ended with Alice in a yellow dressed inside Shelly's version of her old dollhouse, with the villainess staring at Alice from outside.
