Villainous conspirator Rita Goff
Rita Goff (Shiraine Haas) is a villainess from the 2021 Hallmark film, Mystery 101: Killer Timing, the sixth film of the Mystery 101 film series (airdate March 21, 2021).
Rita Goff is the wife of Mel Goff, and they were introduced as the owners of a home that was just minutes away from a lavish restaurant, where Amy Winslow and Travis Burke were meeting. Just as Travis was about to approach Amy, the house suddenly exploded, knocking out Travis, who was left with only a concussion after being checked on by Amy. Travis' new partner, Maria Valdez, arrived at the scene and interviewed the Goffs and Amy, with the couple stating that they were in a vehicular accident at the restaurant's parking lot, with Amy considering the accident a blessing in disguise, as it kept them from being at the house and being killed in the explosion.
The explosion was labeled as an accident until Amy learned from her friend and colleague, Tabitha Felton, that Rita was a professor specializing in computers, leading Amy to realize that the explosion was planned. An interrogation performed by Travis towards the Goffs ended up revealing the entire truth: the couple intentionally blew up their house as part of an insurance scheme, with their backstory revealing that they suffered crippling debt following the passing of their son, Terry. The debt was caused by the couple taking out a second mortgage, leading to the villainous couple plotting their scheme.
Rita purchased the proper explosives for Mel to place inside the home's stove, and to cover their tracks, the evil Rita intentionally caused the aforementioned accident by backing up into a moving car, providing the couple with an alibi. After Travis showed the video evidence of Rita at the scene, the couple confessed, claiming that their intent was not to hurt anyone, but afterwards, the Goffs were informed by Travis that they would be arrested and charged for their various crimes.
