The evil and abusive Mrs. Raymond
Mrs. Raymond (Laura Harring) was a villainess from the 2008 film, One Missed Call. She is the mother of Beth Raymond (the film's main protagonist).
Mrs. Raymond first appears in a flashback at the beginning of the movie in which she sent apology letters to her daughter, only for Beth to tear them up.
Later in the movie, Jack Andrews (an investigator) notices cigarette butt marks on Beth's arm and asks her how she got them, the woman explains that her mother gave them to her when she was about 7-8 years old.
Another flashback reveals that in reality, Mrs. Raymond was immensely cruel and abusive towards her only daughter, as one sequence showed the callous woman putting out her cigarette on the little girl's arm while present Beth rethinks everything. The wicked mother was severely scolding her daughter by telling her that when she called her she had to obey immediately, not caring that little Beth was crying.
Afterwards, little Beth ran and crouched in a corner while Mrs. Raymond smiled sadistically, back in the present, Jack asks Beth if her father knew about the abuse, with the woman saying yes. Also in the flashback, the sadistic mother called her daughter a crybaby and told her she was disgusting, before leaving she told her daughter in an ironic way that if she wanted to keep crying she could go to her father.
After her mother leaving, little Beth came out of her room and went to find her father, as she went up the stairs she noticed a peephole and saw what was on the other side, only to find out that her father had hanged himself in the attic (suggesting that Mrs. Raymond was also an abusive wife).
Toward the end of the movie, Beth picks up one of her mother's apology letters, hinting that she is ready to give her another chance (also hinting that the woman has regrets for her past actions).
