The evil Megan Everett
Megan Everett (Laura Ault) is the main villainess from the 2022 Lifetime film, Malicious Mind Games (released on Lifetime Movie Club on June 24, 2022).
Backstory and Introduction[]
Megan Everett is the divorced mother of Jonathan Everett, who became the boyfriend of Rosaline Richardson--the daughter of main protagonist Isabel Richardson. Her backstory revealed that she also had a twin sister, Celine Russell (also played by Ault), though they were separated and adopted by different families. Megan inadvertently learned about her sister's existence from Isabel, as Celine had been conversing with Isabel during her job as a security guard at the Regent Theater, though Isabel never knew Celine's name.
The sisters' reunion at Celine's apartment was a happy one, with Celine informing Megan that she had become a doctor. However, Megan became angered over Celine's success, as Celine had everything that Megan felt was denied her for her entire life. Celine later voiced her disbelief of her good life and how lucky she was, but in response, Megan turned heel by attacking her sister before strangling her to death in a jealous rage. Celine's murder was witnessed by Isabel, who thought she was seeing Megan being killed, but her report was nullified when Megan emerged and encountered the detectives.
Events[]
Megan continued to befriend Isabel, though she covertly worked to cover up her murderous actions, first by sending Isabel a letter telling her to forget what she had seen. The villainess later knocked out Isabel after she was witnessed arguing with Cameron (Isabel's boss), but in spite of this, Isabel noticed key differences that showed that Megan wasn't the same woman she had talked to previously. She continued looking into Megan, who later attacked Cameron and left her for dead (Cameron survived); all the while, Megan continued to befriend Isabel and talk about her adoptive parents, claiming that she did everything that they asked of her, which included getting married and having Jonathan.
Afterwards. Megan was approached by a private investigator who identified her as Celine, with Megan brushing him off and telling him to inform her parents (who hired the PI) that she didn't want to see them. Rosaline also ended up being a target of Megan's villainy, as the villainess (after learning about Isabel and Rosaline being allergic to shellfish) gave Rosaline brownies laced with a shellfish ingredient as a direct message to Isabel. Later on, Isabel and her love interest, Henry Cho, investigate Megan's apartment, where they learn about both twins, only for Megan to appear and attack Henry with a bat, resulting in Henry being placed in a coma.
Climax & Arrest[]
Isabel's warning to Rosaline about Megan falls on deaf ears, and later that night, Isabel went to her daughter's room and saw that she was gone. Shortly afterwards, the evil Megan contacted Isabel and revealed that she had Rosaline at the theater--using her son's phone to contact Rosaline and lure her to the theater--and advised Isabel to come alone. Isabel acquiesced and later saw Rosaline tied up, but was later knocked out by Megan, who tied her up as well. The diabolical villainess later revealed her plan to burn down the theater and kill the Richardsons, adding that she had to do so because Isabel continued to look into her.
Among other things, Megan admitted to killing Celine after hearing her talk about her good life, claiming that she didn't want to, but stating that her anger over Celine's "boasts" made her snap. She also vented about her ex-husband and Jonathan (referring to the latter as "annoying), but it was during her rant and confession that Jonathan appeared and revealed that he overheard his mother's villainous admission. Megan attempted to appease Jonathan, only to attempt to stop his mother after seeing Isabel and Rosaline free themselves, after which Megan delivered an elbow to her son's face. While Megan checked on her son, Isabel fought with the villainess and removed her grip on her garden shears, but once she rearmed herself, Isabel struck Megan with a statuette.
As Megan's hands were being tied up by Isabel, the villainess repeated her claim that she didn't mean to kill her sister, doing so as Detective Novak appeared with backup. Megan ended up handcuffed and arrested, calling for Jonathan as she was being taken into custody.
