Villainous conspirator Matilda
Matilda is a villainess from a short story released by IMR Scary Tales on February 26, 2023. She was the paternal grandmother of the story's unnamed protagonist. The story began with the protagonist being told she had inherited Matilda's house following the passing of the latter.
However, the protagonist's parents were reluctant to allow her to move into the house owing to a dark family history. Matilda's brother Frank had been rejected by his crush, May Summers, in high school when asking her to the prom. In revenge, Frank kidnapped May and brutally decapitated her while his parents and sister slept upstairs. Frank was never seen again after that night, with an anonymous police tipster claiming to have witnessed him committing suicide by jumping off a bridge.
Eventually, the protagonist moved into Matilda's house only to experience frightening events such as the sound of footsteps and heavy breathing while sleeping in Matilda's bed. A mysterious figure also appeared in the room even after the door had been locked, terrifying the protagonist and causing her to hide in the living room until morning. Thinking the house to be haunted, the protagonist believed that May's ghost lingered in the house and attempted to contact her via a ouija board. At that moment, the figure emerged from the bedroom closet, clutching a decaying human skull and attacked the protagonist.
This led to the shocking reveal that the figure was in fact an old man with his demand to know Matilda's whereabouts confirming him to be Frank who had been hiding in the house for decades. After locking her great-uncle in the bedroom, the protagonist called for help, leading to him finally being arrested for May's murder. This also led to Matilda's posthumous villainous reveal. As it turned out, Matilda had come across Frank the night of the murder while he attempted to dispose of the corpse in the attic.
Instead of alerting the authorities, Matilda turned heel by hiding Frank in a compartment she built into her bedroom. The evil Matilda also turned out to have been the tipster, feeding false information to the police in order to throw off their investigation. For the next several decades, the villainous siblings continued keeping Frank a secret as he lived in the house's walls, keeping May's skull as a sick memento of the crime. Following Frank's death two years after the arrest, the protagonist and her family had the house demolished.
