Madeline "Maddie" Sawyer (Evanne Friedmann) is the main villainess from the 2017 Lifetime film, The Wrong Student (airdate March 11, 2017).

Introduction[]

Maddie is an emancipated 18 year old student, her parents having died a couple of years ago, and she is the best friend and soccer teammate of one of the protagonists, Amber Halligan.

Events[]

Maddie harbored a crush on her and Amber's coach, Dominic; a crush which is actually revealed as an obsession when various photos of Dominic are all posted all over her bedroom wall. When she witnessed Coach Hendricks threatening to fire Dominic, Maddie--seeing her as an obstacle--poisons Hendricks and later locks her in her office while she succumbs, all the while taunting her by holding her medication. After Dominic announced that Hendricks was in a coma, Maddie gains Dominic's attention by feigning an injury. While she is tended to in the locker room, Maddie attempted to seduce Dominic by undressing in front of him.

Maddie had noticed Riley Jones, her former flame, warning Amber about Maddie. While she stalked Dominic during his date with Amber's aunt, Kelly, the villainess noticed Riley in her room investigating via a security camera she had set up, prompting her to confront Riley. She (posing as Amber) sent Riley a text to meet her at a park, where she forced Riley to admit that he was warning Amber about her. After that, Maddie stabbed Riley to death, doing so because he was in her room and saw evidence to her obsession with Dominic.

Maddie's next target was Kelly, and in her villainous quest, she hurled a rock through Kelly's window, which had a message warning Kelly to stay away from Dominic. She again attempted to seduce Dominic after she called him to pick her up from a party, but after being turned down again, Maddie went into a rage while revealing her true feelings and obsession for him. Once she sees Dominic with Kelly through a camera she secretly installed at the house, Maddie becomes angry and destroys Kelly's office.

As Kelly comes to realize that Maddie was behind both acts, Maddie breaks into the house while Amber is alone and confronts her with a knife, telling her how she was lonely ever since her parents died and thought Dominic could fill the void in her life. When Amber tries to run, Maddie puts the knife against her throat. When Dominic comes over to stop Maddie, he finds her standing in front of a tied up and gagged Amber. Maddie breaks down, accusing Dominic of throwing her aside like trash, and states that when Kelly comes to the house, Maddie intends to kill herself and all three of them, Amber, Kelly, and Dominic, as revenge for Dominic turning her down, and for the intention to die with her love obsession at her side. Dominic attempts to plead Maddie to stop, but she mindlessly and cold-heartedly refuses to stop her cruel ways and declares that she would do anything to win his love, including killing people.

During the middle of ranting about her plan, however, Maddie is unaware that Kelly had snuck into the house, and Kelly puts a stop to Maddie's evil plan by hitting Maddie in the head with a pan, allowing her to be subdued until the police (who know about every single one of Kelly's crimes) arrive. Desperate to avoid being sent to prison, Maddie attempts to get Kelly to kill her, saying it's what she deserves. However, Kelly refuses to kill her, stating that the real punishment Maddie deserves is to live with all the villainous atrocities she committed. Hearing this, Maddie then breaks down in tears at the prospect of spending a life in prison without Dominic as the police arrive to arrest and convict her of all her crimes.
