Lola Peterson

Lola Peterson (Romy Rosemont) is the recurring villainess of 9-1-1. She first appeared "Buck Actually," episode 2.08 (airdate November 5, 2018).

Introduction[]

Lola Peterson is the wife of Norman Peterson, though her backstory revealed that she and her husband have been together since they were seventeen and have a son, Zach. They had a healthy family dynamic and they raised Zach until he was old enough to be on his own and moved out. Lola had believed that Zach's leaving would serve as a reason and inspiration to become more intimate with Norman and rekindle their spark. However, she saw that nothing occurred and fell into a depression, unknown to her husband.

During the events of the episode "Buck, Actually", Lola decided to get her husband's attention by standing atop highway billboard with a flier saying "See me Norman!" Rescue was called to get her down, but she refused the help of firefighters and even brandished a pistol to destroy the inflatable bed and held Firefighter Evan Buckley at gunpoint. She declared she would stay until Norman arrived to see her. As a result, the firefighters and police were forced to block off the highway. Lola's actions soon reached the local news and she realized the passing helicopter was broadcasting, before proceeding to flash the cameras and shout "Do you see me now Norman?!" Many of the drivers soon gave Lola support.

Lola soon told Buckley that her marriage had gotten dull, and she desired to reignite things with her husband. Buckley gave her some of his own relationship experience to comfort her. Soon Norman witnessed the broadcast and shocked by his wife's actions, he called Dispatcher Maddie Buckley (Buck's sister) for help and a police motorcycle drove him to his wife's location. Norman voiced how he thought things were fine, but Lola stated that she wanted excitement back and voiced resentment at his neglect of her feelings. After a while, Norman played their song on a boombox to show her that he is willing to change. She is touched and finally allows herself to be rescued. She admits her actions were over the top, but it was all for love. Lola is then cuffed by Sgt. Athena Grant and is arrested. Athena's stance on Lola's overdramatic and wild nature, was supported by her ex-husband's boyfriend because Lola endangered people and held back emergency services.

She reappears in "Careful What You Wish For", where she has been released from jail after serving sixty days and reconciled with her husband who visited each day. She was contacted by Dispatcher Josh Russo who gathered many of the callers to explain to Maddie how she helped them in their time of need. Both she and Norman told her if wasn't for her getting a police escort, their marriage would never have survived and voiced gratitude for her actions.

Heel Turn[]

Over the course of five years, she and Norman have retired and use the time to enjoy their renewed marriage by going on cruises. Despite that, Lola went on to have an affair with the cruise director Julian Enes. During "Abandon Ships", she and her husband were on another trip before they came across Athena Grant and her husband Bobby Nash, who recognized them from the call. It was mentioned that after Lola's initial arrest, she was paroled, fined, and reconnected with Norman. They voiced their gratitude to the pair for helping them and laugh at the past meeting, before it is revealed they will all share the same table. When Julian was called over, Athena noticed Lola's uncomforted nature towards watching him talk with Norman.

During the events of "Rock the Boat", Athena discovered her and Julian's affair but kept it to herself. Soon Lola disappeared and it was believed Norman had murdered her, but this was proven not to be true.

Reveal[]

After being rescued, Lola is arrested.

After being rescued, Lola is arrested.

In "Capsized", Julian was revealed to be smuggler who charmed desperate married women into helping him with his crimes, with Lola fitting his criteria. Lola was easily swayed into helping Julian, despite knowing it was wrong. After Julian ended up dead, Lola was discovered to have been complicit by Athena and the other guests, much to Norman's dismay. After the ship came under attack and was starting to sink, Norman was hostile to an guilty Lola who tried to explain. Norman later injured while trying to get to safety. After rescue found the ship, all the survivors were saved, and Lola was put under arrest.

While Lola was detained, she shared a moment with her dazed and wounded husband who apologized for her losing her lover. Wracked with guilt, she declared Julian was nothing but a rat though stated he didn't deserve to die, just as Norman didn't deserve his grievous injury. She begged him for forgiveness while he tells her they'll have to talk about after she is released in "10 to 20" years, before is carted away with Lola frantically stating she loved him.
