Racist villainess Karen Miller
Karen Miller (Stephanie Schulz) is the main villainess from White Lady Refuses to Hire Black Girl - Must See Ending!!!, a short video released by Life Lessons with Luis (release date March 20, 2021). She is the CEO of a prominent news organization.
The film opens with Karen being visited by Zahara, a freelance writer who was looking to be hired by the organization, only for Karen to admonish Zahara for showing up unannounced. Karen decided to let Zahara in her office, and after refusing to shake Zahara's hand (claiming COVID-19 protocols), she began her interview by asking Zahara where her name came from. Zahara stated that her name was Egyptian for "beautiful," only for Zahara to be cut off while speaking about her family by Karen, who dismissively stated that the name was African.
Karen later asked Zahara for her resume, which showed that she worked at National Geographic, and later asked Zahara about her inspiration to become a writer--while also calling Zahara "LaQuisha," a stereotypical Black girl name. Zahara revealed that she grew up in a war zone in Zimbabwe, and that writing was her way to escape when she was younger. In addition, Zahara informed Karen that she planned to use her writing skills to shed light on everything going on in war-torn countries, only for Karen to state that Zahara was looking for a handout, a claim that Zahara flatly denied.
Karen pointed out from Zahara's resume that she started a charity in Zimbabwe, "AWARE Trust," leading to the villainess accusing Zahara of using her company to fund her charity. She later noticed Zahara's cross and asked her if she was a Christian or if she was just wearing it for a rap video, with Zahara responding that she was a Christian and the cross was given to her by her late mother before she passed. When asked by Karen if her mother was ill, Zahara stated that she had malaria, with Karen callously responding that she would have guessed AIDS as the cause. At that moment, the villainess doubled down on her racism by lashing out at "Zahara's people" for coming from a third-world country and bringing her diseases; adding that she didn't know whether she found Africans or Chinese people more repulsive.
In response to Zahara asking Karen if she had a problem with her being black, Karen laughed off the claim and stated that she couldn't be racist because "her shadow was black," but later lashed out at the affirmative action movement and revealed that she "had fun with it" by hiring Mexicans and janitors and Asians as delivery boys. Regarding Zahara, the evil Karen ordered her to get down on her knees and beg for a job, while repeating her accusation that she was looking for a handout to fund her organization and stating that she didn't know where Zahara fit in. The xenophobic villainess also informed Zahara that she would let her write her articles if she begged to be hired, adding that she would take full credit for Zahara's work funding her charity. Karen again asked Zahara to beg, calling her "puppy" and later cackling at Zahara.
In a twist, a scene that took place 15 minutes prior to the meeting revealed that Zahara was sent in by her boyfriend to record Karen and expose her as a racist and maniacal villainess, and as Zahara left, Karen mocked her and stated that they were just getting started and told her to have some fun. An epilogue revealed that Karen was fired as CEO on the following day, and afterwards, Zahara sued the villainess for $14 million and won, after which Zahara donated her entire winnings to her charity.
