Karen Becker (Julia Chan) is a recurring villainess from Republic of Doyle.

Season One

Karen Becker is the niece of notorious rum smuggler and crime boss Maurice Becker, and she first appeared in episode 1.05, "Hit and Rum." In the episode, Karen was encountered by Jake and Malachy Doyle, with Karen seducing the former before assisting the Doyles in taking down her uncle. Karen's role had her drugging Maurice before he had the chance to flee, leading to his eventual incarceration.

Season Three

Karen Becker's heel turn in "Mirror, Mirror"

Karen resurfaced in episode 3.09, "Mirror, Mirror," which began with Jake and Maurice searching for her, with Maurice claiming that he was dying and had two months to live. The pair's search led them to a hanger owned by Karen, who was revealed to have a helicopter business in the episode. Jake approached Karen and reminded her of their history together, after which Karen embraced Jake with a kiss. Shortly afterwards, Karen turned heel by drugging Jake with chloroform.

It was also revealed that Karen's "legit" business was a front for her role as a rum smuggler, with the villainess trading her latest shipment for a load of bearer bonds. Jake and Maurice ended up arrested during their confrontation with Karen, which revealed that Quebecois detective Guy Racicot was on the case, as he was after Maurice. However, it was also uncovered that Guy was after the bonds, as part of a deal that would allow him to take Maurice back to Quebec.

In the episode's climax, the evil Karen ended up encountered by Jake, which saw her comment that she was out of her league before being accosted by Leslie Bennett, who (after a fight scene witnessed by an enthused Jake and Guy) handcuffed and arrested the villainess. Before she was officially taken away, Karen was shocked to see that the bonds were actually replaced with pamphlets, as Maurice had stolen the bonds some time ago and was planning his own getaway.
