The evil Judy Bennette

The evil Judy Bennette

Judy Bennette (Jessica Hecht) was a hidden villainess from "The Match Game," episode 7.02 of Medium (airdate September 30, 2010).

Introduction and Death[]

Judy Bennette was a neurologist who first appeared in Allison Dubois' first dream of the episode, which had her and a man named Gil Bureli getting married. From that point on, Allison would see symbols on people's foreheads, which would determine if they were a romantic match for each other. As for Judy, her official introduction came when Allison was undergoing a check up, with Allison seeing a heart symbol on her forehead.

Allison matched up Judy with Gil, who had the same heart symbol on his forehead, but later on, Allison dreamed about the pair being on a date together, which ended with Gil strangling Judy to death. Judy's murder was confirmed by Lee Scanlon, which was part of a case involving a serial killer known as the Centennial Park Strangler.

Judy's reveal as Melinda Sully's killer

It was originally believed that one of Gil's victims was a woman named Melinda Sully, who was identified as one of three women killed by the Strangler prior to Judy's murder. Melinda's murder was replayed in two separate dreams, but to Allison's shock, the second dream revealed that Melinda's killer was none other than Judy. It was confirmed that Gil killed the other two women, but the climax only saw Gil taken in for unpaid parking tickets. After Allison had a dream about a robber with a heart on his forehead, she was about to call Lee, only for Judy's spirit to appear and tell her not to do so.

After stating that the robber was arrested, as well as labeling her own murder as a fitting punishment, Judy revealed her connection to Melinda. As the villainess revealed, Melinda was a patient of hers who visited Judy complaining about blurred vision, with Judy performing a scan and stating that the blurry vision was due to stress. As it turned out, Melinda had a pituitary adenoma, a tumor in the back of her brain, and that was the cause of her blurry vision. By the time Melinda got her second opinion, it was too late to operate, and it was followed by Melinda suing Judy.

Knowing that she would lose her practice due to Melinda's large chances of winning, Judy turned heel by strangling Melinda to death late one evening, with the maniacal villainess committing the murder while Melinda was jogging, and ditching the murder weapon afterwards. During her admission, the evil Judy stated that Melinda's lack of living family ties would have allowed her murder to be forgotten, but when Melinda's murder was investigated, Judy sent the dream of the robber to Allison. The villainess referred to the robber as Gil's boyfriend, revealing that after the robber's arrest, he became interested in Gil, who resisted his advances and ended up killed by the robber in response.
