Villainous deceiver Jess

Jess is the main villainess from Remember Me (alternately titled, My Missing BFF Showed Up 1 Year After And She Blames Me), a short story released by My Story Animated (release date May 12, 2020).

Jess was introduced as the best friend of main protagonist Francie, whose mother screamed in shock after watching the news and seeing Jess, having re-emerged after being abducted. Francie also expressed shock over seeing her best friend for the first time in a year, and was more surprised to find out that she had been abducted. According to Jess, she was walking by her lonesome on the day in question, when a blonde villainess picked her up and abducted her, with Jess behind held captive at the abductor's home for a year before fighting her way out.

The media was all over Jess' house, though Francie walked past them in order to reunite with her best friend. However, Francie was stunned when Jess not only glared at her, but she publicly blamed Francie for her abduction. Jess even went as far as to saw that Francie was the last person she saw that day, but while Francie remembered that she and Jess had an argument, she also recalled that the last person to see Jess was Kat, a college girl she had been befriending. Nevertheless, Francie became the subject of scorn and accusations after Jess' declaration, with even her own mother blaming her and police officers questioning her.

The only thing that drove attention away from Francie was Jess' first day back at school, with several students surrounding her and giving her sympathy. During class, Francie spotted Jess' phone buzzing and decided to take it for herself, only to see a text from Kat asking Jess why she changed her story. She later saw various deleted texts between Jess and Kat, after which the former appeared looking for her phone. After seeing Francie with the phone, Jess screamed at her and threatened to tell police that she stole it, only for Francie to counteract with a threat of her own: that she had known that Jess staged her own kidnapping. Though Francie had no clear evidence of her accusation, her counteraction worked, as Jess confessed to everything.

As Jess revealed, she went to Kat's house after her fight with Francie, and vented over her entire life; stating that she hated her parents, hated school, and even Francie hated her. She wanted to run away, after which Kat told Jess about an abandoned cabin that Jess could stay, with Kat feeding her weekly, allowing Jess to leave her life behind. However, Jess became lonely after a whole year and decided to return, but she decided to make up a phony story that she had been kidnapped. When Francie asked why she lied, Jess stated that she was angry that no one noticed that she was gone, with the last straw being that Francie (in her mind) stopped looking for her, only for Francie to state that she followed her story daily and always called her.

The evil Jess pleaded with Francie to not tell anyone, claiming that Francie was the only real friend she had. Her pleas were met with astonishment from Francie, due to the fact that Jess had continuously slandered her as part of her delusional story, and in response, Francie told Jess to tell the truth, or she would if Jess refused. Jess confessed publicly, and she ended up ridiculed and labeled as crazy afterwards. As Francie revealed in her narration, Jess and her parents had to move out of state, but before the move, Jess called Francie and asked if they could still be friends. In response, Francie forgave Jess and told her that she hoped she'd find happiness one day, but their friendship was over.
