Janine Haight (The Wrong Child)

The evil Janine Haight

Janine Haight (Helene Udy) is a villainess from the 2016 Lifetime film, The Wrong Child (airdate June 26, 2016). She is the mother of Andrew Haight (the film's eventual main antagonist).

The film's opening scenes take place 11 years prior to the films events, and shows Janine cooking while young Andrew was watching television. She is later on the receiving end of verbal abuse from her husband (Andrew's father), Eddie Haight, whose anger increased after he stepped on one of Andrew's toys. After Eddie berated Andrew, Janine ordered her son to head outside, with Andrew originally refusing before following through with her mother's demand.

Andrew watched as Janine confronted Eddie regarding his behavior towards both her and Andrew, with Eddie lashing out at his wife in response before Janine closed the curtains. Janine turned heel afterwards by stabbing Eddie to death, doing so after blocking her son's view to prevent him from being an eyewitness to murder, though Andrew heard Eddie's screams during Janine's murderous heel turn. The film's progression doesn't directly reveal Janine's fate, but it gave an indication that she was arrested for her husband's murder.

Trivia

• Janine Haight is similar to fellow Lifetime villainess Margot Fawcett from 2017's One Small Indiscretion, as both were mothers of their respective film's antagonists, while also being in bad marriages. In addition, both women ended up killing their respective husbands in a fit of rage, but one difference is Janine's sole intent was on killing her husband; Margot's murderous act was part of a successful murder-suicide.
