The villainous Janey Sullivan

Janey Sullivan (Emma Grabinsky) is a hidden villainess from the 2021 Hallmark film, Mystery 101: Deadly History, the seventh film of the Mystery 101 series (airdate August 1, 2021).

Introduction

Janey Sullivan is the daughter of Sinead and Frank Sullivan; the latter half of the couple being a construction company owner and a budding politician. The family's first appearance came when Amy Winslow, Travis Burke, and Graham Winslow (Amy's father) visited the home regarding their search for Amy's paternal uncle, Alister "Al" Winslow, who was also tutoring Janey. The meeting revealed that Janey was groomed to join the family business, but she actually idolized Graham and wanted to become a writer just like him.

Heel Turn

As the meeting also revealed, Frank served as an intimidating presence in the Sullivan household, with Janey wanting her mother to leave him. With knowledge of Graham's fame and wealth, Janey turned heel by planning to extort money from Graham, and it was after the trio left the house that the villainess contacted Graham and demanded a ransom under the claim that she had Al held captive, with Al's voice being heard as proof.

Graham later withdrew the ransom money from his account, and later on, the evil Janey called again and gave instructions for the drop, which would take place at a nearby lake, while threatening to kill Al if any police arrived. Amy was sent via boat to hand off the ransom, and it was at the lake that a disguised Janey attacked Amy and took off with the money. Travis tracked the culprit and shot at her motorcycle, and afterwards, Janey removed her helmet and revealed herself to Travis.

Janey was arrested for her extortion plot, and during her confession, she revealed that she used a voicemail as part of her ruse. As Sinead later revealed to Graham, Janey's heel turn was centered on providing her mother with money to get away from Frank, and it was also revealed that Sinead had begun a relationship with Al, and she sent him into hiding to keep Frank from finding him.
