Janet Lonnegan

The evil Janet Lonnegan

Janet Lonnegan (Nadia Litz) is the main villainess from "Long Live the King," episode 2.11 of Private Eyes (airdate June 3, 2018). She is the VP of Strategy for the Bright Star Toy Company, which had Bob Sterling as an employee in the mailroom.

With Bright Star lagging in sales, Janet feared that she would be let go from her position, not only due to the downsizing of many workers, but also because it had been a while since she came up with an original idea of her own. At one point, she was approached by Bob, who pitched a drawing of his latest creation for an action figure, Celeste E.L. Knight, an intergalactic knight superheroine. Janet had turned down the idea, only to later decide to steal it for herself to maintain her job, as well as move up the corporate ladder.

Knowing that Bob would suspect her in stealing his design, the evil Janet planned to discredit and eventually kill him by poisoning his protein powder with an ADHD drug, using her nephew's medication in her plot. As a result, Bob became paranoid and delusional, even accusing the company's CEO, Wendel Sylvie, of spying on him, which resulted in Bob being fired when he tried to access Wendel's computer. That same day, Janet pitched Celeste E.L. Knight to the CEO, who agreed to green-light the design. Bob's behavior also affected his performance as King Lucian in a medieval role playing show, as he was convinced that his co-workers were attempting to kill him. Matt Shade and Angie Everett were hired by Bob to investigate his delusions, which they originally thought were such until Bob ended up hospitalized due to the poisoning.

The pair met Janet at Bright Star and talked about "her" latest creation, while also revealing why Bob was fired. Wendel was originally suspected when it was believed that he was stealing from the company, only for the duo, their assistant Zoe Chow, and Bob's friend and coworker Fey to learn that Wendel was using his own salary to keep the company afloat. Matt, Angie, and Fey later visited Bob at the hospital, where it was revealed that he showed his design of Celeste E.L. Knight to Janet, and it was in the episode's climax that the duo and a fully recovered Bob confronted her during her presentation to Wendel and the company investors. Janet's evil scheme was revealed, with the villainess denying everything and even showing the original sketch in an attempt to claim that Celeste was hers. Unfortunately for her, Bob's notebook contained additional sketches of Celeste and revealed she resembled Fey, which uncovered Janet's deception. Janet was fired by Wendel, and also arrested (off-screen) for poisoning and attempting to kill Bob.
