Eve Michaels

The psychotic Eve Michaels

Eve Michaels (Kimberly-Sue Murray) is the main villainess from the 2023 film, The Threat Next Door.

Backstory[]

Eve Michaels is a teacher and the wife of Brian Collingwood, as well as the mother of the couple's only daughter, Chloe Collingwood. A year prior, Eve and Chloe were involved in a car accident, and regarding the latter, she was hospitalized and under the care of head nurse (and main protagonist) Mary Hargreaves, who administered Chloe's medication.

Due to the medication being mislabeled, Chloe received the wrong batch, and ended up dying as a result. Eve had blamed herself for the loss of her daughter, but as time passed, she became more unhinged and placed blame mainly on Mary for killing Chloe, with Brian noticing his wife's increasing mental instability.

Eve after killing Natalie and abducting Daphne

At some point entering the film's events, Eve turned heel and went on a vengeful vendetta against Mary, which began with stalking Mary and learning about her husband, James Hargreaves, as well as their daughter, Daphne Hargreaves, who she saw as a manifestation of Chloe. The villainess targeted James by drugging him and causing him to be arrested for DUI, with Daphne in the car, which resulted in the estrangement of his marriage to Mary. Eve continued stalking Mary and Daphne before introducing herself as their neighbor and presenting their food delivery that was mistakenly delivered to her.

Eve quickly befriended Mary and ended up serving as Daphne's sitter, forming a strong bond with Daphne, and admonishing James while he attempted to see his daughter. All the while, the deranged madwoman continued her vendetta, doing so by tossing a rock through Mary's window and attempting to set up James in the act. The attack saw Eve and Natalie (the latter being Mary's best friend and co-worker) comfort Mary, with Eve voicing her suspicions of James, while Natalie disagreed, leading to Eve attempting to drive a wedge between Natalie and Mary.

Eve later sabotaged Mary's project, which resulted in Mary having to stay at work during Daphne's presentation, which Eve attended. When asked about the project, Eve stated that she used Mary's laptop to help with Daphne's presentation, and later claimed that Daphne was left unsupervised on Mary's laptop, which was followed by Mary informing Eve that the incident was a sign that she needed to be at home with Daphne more often, while also telling Eve that she would not be needed to watch her. The villainess gave an angry expression in response, and afterwards, Eve snuck into the house and abducted Daphne before calling Child Protective Services on Mary.

Climax and Arrest[]

Eve took Daphne to her house and watched as Mary frantically searched for her daughter, but at that moment, she was visited by Natalie, who (after James warned her about Eve) looked into Eve and revealed that her landlord wasn't familiar with an Eve Michaels, while the school she was set to teach at also had no knowledge of her as well. Natalie later heard Daphne knocking inside the bedroom, and afterwards, the evil Eve struck Natalie with a lamp before strangling her to death with the cord.

The unhinged villainess later stuffed Natalie's body in the trunk of her car before taking Daphne to a nearby cottage, while both Mary and James called the police and suspected that Eve had taken Daphne. The couple's visit to Brian Collingwood's apartment led them to learn that Eve was his wife and Chloe's mother; all the while, Eve was braiding Daphne's hair and took out a pair of scissors with intent on cutting it, while referring to Daphne as Chloe. Having realized Eve's lack of sanity, Daphne tossed a stool at the villainess and ran off, while Mary and James learned about the cottage after hearing the rest of Natalie's recording.

Eve found Daphne inside a shed, and upon hearing James and Mary arriving, the villainess threatened Daphne into keeping quiet before entering the cottage and wielding a knife at the couple, cutting James while doing so. Eve responded to Mary's pleas for Daphne by stating that she wouldn't take her daughter from her again, only for Mary to subdue the madwoman with a fireplace poker and plead for Daphne again. Eve tackled Mary and later held her at knifepoint as James approached the villainess and revealed that she drugged him on the night of the DUI. Eve lashed out at James and referred to Daphne as her daughter, while refusing to reveal Daphne's whereabouts, after which Mary fought off the villainess (who slashed James' right leg) and searched for Daphne.

Eve pursued and brawled with Mary, and later prevented Mary's attempt to free Daphne, which was followed by Mary assuring Eve that she wasn't to blame for Chloe's death. In response, the maniacal villainess blamed Mary and stated that if she couldn't have Daphne, no one would, adding that she would punished Mary in the similar fashion that Mary (in her mind) punished her. Mary fought off Eve and rescued Daphne; however, Eve maniacally threatened to kidnap Daphne again and kill her, prompting Mary to knock out the villainess, who was later handcuffed and arrested by police.
