Eva Roberts, aka Eva Soloman (Stacy Haiduk), is the main villainess from the 2024 Lifetime film, The Replacement Daughter (airdate April 28, 2024).
Backstory and Introduction[]
Eva Soloman's backstory revealed that she was married to the wealthy Craig Soloman, though their attempts to have children failed, as Eva suffered four miscarriages. At some point, Eva adopted a daughter, whom she named Sarah. She enjoyed motherhood, up until Sarah died of cancer as a teenager. Craig passed away some time afterwards. In the film, Eva was introduced as a customer at a nail salon owned by Liza Grady, which saw her overhear Liza's heated confrontation with her landlord, Ray Bowers.
Heel Turn[]
Unbeknownst to Liza, Eva's appearance at the salon was planned, as she had discovered that Liza was actually Sarah's birth mother, and Sarah was one of a set of twins along with main protagonist Jessica Grady, who Eva met during her visit to the salon. Upon seeing Jessica, Eva turned heel and planned to take Jessica for herself as a replacement for Sarah. Her plan began with enlisting her live-in gardener, Tony, to run over and kill Liza. Tony ran down Liza in Ray's car, though Liza ended up hospitalized and in a coma. Afterwards, the evil Eva sent Tony to kill Helen, Liza and Jessica's close friend who took the latter in, with Tony bludgeoning Helen to death.
As a result, Eva accepted the opportunity to take in Jessica, while also sending Tony to the hospital to kill Liza, only for him to be stopped by Dr. Lopez. The villainess enjoyed her time with Jessica. However, Jessica was warned about Eva by Shane (Tony's son and Jessica's schoolmate), which led her to enter a room which was revealed to be Sarah's, after which Eva revealed the truth about Sarah being her adopted daughter and Jessica's twin sister. Eva's story saw her cover up her villainous role in Liza's incapacitation, and after continuing to bask in having Jessica with her, she gloated about their time together to her housekeeper, Mrs. Durant. Eva planned to take Jessica to Europe with her, only to receive news from Dr. Lopez that Liza was showing signs of recovering.
Climax and Arrest[]
Meanwhile, Jessica discovered passports for herself and Eva, and later confronted her, which was interrupted by Mrs. Durant chloroforming Jessica. Eva kept Jessica imprisoned in one of the rooms. Afterwards, Mrs. Durant pleaded with Eva to let Jessica go, while adding that she was there for Eva during her worst times. However, Eva saw Mrs. Durant's pleas as an act of betrayal, which led to the madwoman drowning her housekeeper in the sink. The climax saw Eva catch Tony stealing her valuables, and also admonish Tony for failing to kill Liza. After Tony promised to walk away without incident, Eva grabbed a knife and stabbed her henchman to death.
The villainess approached Jessica from outside the room, and under Jessica's feigned promise to go with Eva if she heard the truth, Eva admitted to masterminding Liza's attempted murder, while continuously referring to herself as Jessica's mother. Afterwards, Eva entered the room with plans to drug Jessica, only for Jessica to stab Eva, who survived and attempted to drug Jessica again before she passed out.
The film's final scenes (prior to Liza's revival) revealed that Eva was placed in a psychiatric ward. In her meeting with her therapist, Dr. Martin, Eva mentioned Mrs. Durant (believing that she was still alive) and her two daughters, while commenting that her doctor looked like one of them, still maintaining her delusions.
