Villainous psychiatrist Ellen Holden
Dr. Ellen Holden (Margot Kidder; 1948-2018) is a minor villainess from "Threshold of Fear," episode 9.16 of Murder, She Wrote (airdate February 28, 1993).
Dr. Ellen Holden is the psychiatrist for Alice Morgan, who became agoraphobic after the murder of her mother, which she had believed was committed by Jordan Barnett, her mother's former lover. In actuality, Holden was manipulating Alice, as she claimed that Alice's visions of her mother's murder were all in her head. She was also revealed to be colluding with Alice's stepbrother, Peter Morgan (the actual murderer), in controlling Alice as part of his plan to sell their Brownstone townhouse.
Holden was also in a relationship with the accused Jordan Barnett, and during their embrace, Holden urged Jordan to dump his girlfriend, Laura Martin, or she'll further convince Alice that she was right about Jordan in their next session. After Peter was arrested for murdering not only his stepmother, but Jordan Barnett, it was revealed at the end of the episode that Holden's psychiatric license was pulled--not only for her manipulation of Alice, but also due to complaints from her past patients.
