The evil Amanda Mixter

The evil Amanda Mixter

Dr. Amanda Mixter (Rosemary Dunsmore) was a hidden recurring villainess from the USA/SyFy series, Chucky. She is a psychiatrist operating out of Hackensack, briefly appearing in two Season One episodes and two Season Two episodes before her villainous turn in "He Is Risen Indeed."

Backstory & Season 1[]

Dr. Amanda Mixter was introduced as the psychiatrist for the Wheeler family, mainly seeing Bree Wheeler, who was revealed to be battling cancer. Her backstory revealed that she was the longtime psychiatrist for Charles Lee Ray, seeing as early as 1965, when Chucky killed his mother. During the discussion, Mixter saw childlike innocence in Chucky (who she continually called "Charlie") in spite of his murderous act, but due to being bored with Chucky's innocence, Mixter turned heel by intentionally "stamping out" his genial qualities and beginning the process of tapping into Chucky's darkness, which resulted in Chucky becoming a notorious serial killer.

As the decades passed, Mixter continued to meet with Chucky and had been tracking his killing spree during the events of the films. Once Chucky returned to Hackensack, the meetings resumed, and while Mixter performed her duties for not only Bree, but also (among others) Jake Wheeler, Lexy Cross, and Devon Evans, she colluded with Chucky in a plan to traumatize and kill the trio of teens, which included Chucky killing Jake's father and uncle, as well as Lexy's father and Devon's mother, while also manipulating Jake's cousin, Junior Wheeler, into becoming a killer.

Season 2[]

Dr. Mixter 2

In the second season opener, "Halloween II," Mixter counseled the Cross family following the events of the first season finale, and gave Caroline a Belle doll (the same doll that Tiffany Valentine possessed) as a therapeutic tool. Later in the episode, Mixter sent Jake, Lexy, and Devon to the School of the Incarnate Lord following the death of Jake's foster brother, Gary, at the hands of Chucky, with the trio being stunned to learn that the school was once attended by Chucky. In episode 2.05, "Doll on Doll," Mixter appeared at the school and voiced her concern with the trio, though she was on the receiving end of blame from Father Bryce for sending potentially murderous teens to the school.

The episode's final scenes showed Mixter entering a secluded cabin where a Chucky doll known as "The Colonel" was torturing Andy Barclay, and in the following episode, "He Is Risen Indeed," Mixter warned The Colonel that the other Chucky dolls had been eliminated, and pleaded with The Colonel to allow her to kill the teens herself, with the scene officially revealing Mixter as a villainess aligned with Chucky. The pair left the cabin and went to the school, with Jake seeing Mixter with the doll and realizing her true nature. Mixter revealed her heel persona to Devon and Lexy by informing the pair that Chucky would kill them, all while voicing her sadistic pleasure over watching Chucky do so.

After Andy appeared and killed The Colonel, the evil Mixter appeared and held Andy and the teens at gunpoint, while clutching another doll known as "Good Chucky" (due to being reprogrammed not to kill). The maniacal villainess lambasted Chucky's good nature and revealed that she stamped out Chucky's good qualities as a child, and added that Good Chucky's vessel was needed for Chucky Prime, who had been possessing Nica Pierce. In the following episode, "Goin' to the Chapel," Mixter suggested an exorcism under the condition that Chucky would return to her, but after the ritual was perform, Jake attempted to take Chucky and drown him, only for Sister Ruth to appear and demand Mixter and Chucky while holding Lexy at gunpoint.

Mixter escaped even after Chucky was shot and killed by Andy, and in the episode's final scenes, the villainess cackled maniacally as she drove away. As the season finale, "Chucky Actually" revealed, Chucky swapped bodies with Mixter during the escape, and it was Mixter who was killed while in the doll, while Chucky got away in Mixter's body before entering another doll.
