The psychotic Devon Miller
Devon Miller (Eva Igo) is the main villainess from the 2023 Lifetime film, Stalked by My Stepsister (airdate October 26, 2023).
Backstory[]
Devon Miller is the daughter of Kent Miller, who is married to Laura Andrews--the mother of the film's main protagonist, Madison "Maddy" Andrews. Her backstory revealed that she lost her mother when Devon was a child, and it was also established that she despised any potential stepmothers, as she wanted Kent to herself. Prior to Kent's marriage to Laura, Kent was in a relationship with Teresa Motley, who became Kent's fiancée. However, Devon--in order to continue to have Kent to herself--murdered Teresa by poisoning her wine, with Teresa's death labeled a suicide.
Events[]
It was during Devon's stint in London that Kent and Laura became husband and wife, and Devon's return saw her introduced to her new stepmother and stepsister. Devon displayed a warm demeanor, though she was working on her plan to get rid of both Laura and Maddy, which began when Kent's business associate, Kathryn Woods, and her husband, Adam Woods, were invited to dinner at the Miller household. Upon learning about Adam's shellfish allergy, Devon laced Adam's dish with shrimp, which triggered the allergy, while also setting up Maddy as being neglectful.
The villainess made her attempt to kill Laura afterwards, doing so by sabotaging a ladder that Laura was using, causing Laura to fall but survive the attempt. Maddy's best friend, Gia Benton, began to suspect Devon's demeanor, leading her to look into Devon's room, only to be caught and threatened by Devon. Later that evening, Devon pursued Gia at the library, and later attacked Gia in an attempt to kill her (Gia survived), with her plan including setting up Maddy in the assault. By this point, Devon's demeanor towards Maddy became antagonistic, leaving Maddy to realize that her evil stepsister had been behind Gia's attack.
Climax[]
Devon, knowing that Maddy was on to her, stole Maddy's inhaler before Maddy went jogging, which resulted in an asthmatic attack that left her hospitalized. While in the hospital, she was visited by Maureen Delisle (who Maddy had looked up and contacted earlier), a friend of Teresa's who revealed that Devon despised her potential stepmother and had killed her. As for Devon, she had spotted Maureen at the hospital and entered Maureen's car to wait in ambush. Once Maureen entered, the evil Devon suffocated Maureen to death by placing a plastic bag over her head, and placed Maddy's locket in the car to frame her.
Maddy ended up suspected in Maureen's murder as a result, and in the film's climax, Devon continued her genial act to Laura, but after Laura spotted the ladder on the top of the stairs, Devon revealed her true plan to kill Laura. The villainess pursued Laura while arming herself with a box cutter, and then lashed out at Laura for marrying Kent behind Devon's back, while also admitting to killing Teresa. Maddy appeared and fought her stepsister, only for Maddy's asthma to be triggered once again, which was followed by Devon snatching Maddy's inhaler from her.
Devon later informed Maddy that she would kill Laura and later portray Maddy as having died from the shock, but after seeing that Maddy had a spare inhaler, the psychotic villainess attempted to kill Maddy, only for Laura to knock out her deranged stepdaughter. Once the detectives arrived, however, Devon was nowhere to be found, and in the film's final scene, Devon was shown outside Maddy's college, giving an evil smirk that established that she would continue to stalk Maddy.
Trivia[]
