The evil Dee Dee Dashers
Dee Dee Dashers (Vanessa Bayer) is the main villainess from "Gold, Frankincense, and Murder," episode 2.06 of Elsbeth (airdate December 5, 2024). She is the wife of Dirk Dashers, and the couple are famous for being celebrity Christmas curators.
The couple was doing their latest holiday show, but later on, Dee Dee informed Dirk that she wanted a divorce, with Dirk refusing her request, saying that it would damage their brand. Dee Dee remained insistent on divorcing, leading Dirk to plan to kill his wife by rigging the switch of the Christmas light display, which would be shown on TV. Unbeknownst to Dirk, Dee Dee had learned about Dirk's murderous plan and enacted one of her own to get rid of Dirk and finally be free of doing Christmas specials. The villainess replaced one of the lights with a frayed bulb, and she wore rubber gloves that prevented her from being electrocuted. Dirk climbed to the top of the tree to inspect the lights, only for the frayed bulb to shock him and cause him to fall to his death, with Dee Dee (who revealed that her first name is pronounced "D'Day") acting mournful and speaking fondly of Dirk.
Later on, Dee Dee made a pitch to do a home decor show, only to end up being offered to do more Christmas shows. Elsbeth Tascioni suspected Dee Dee due to her revealed color-blindness, with the trait being mentioned in the episode's climax, adding that Dee Dee's color blindness was part of her desire to not want to do Christmas shows anymore. In addition, Dee Dee wearing black leather gloves instead of red and/or green ones at the light display revealed the villainess' knowledge of her husband's plan, and it was also pointed out that Dee Dee put up a green frayed light with other green lights, but didn't notice due to her color blindness. Dee Dee was handcuffed and arrested, with the villainess voicing her desire to be taken away after hearing Elsbeth's pro-Christmas statement.
