Catherine is the main villainess from a short story released by Apple Texts on August 11, 2022. She is the mother of Caroline, who was married to main protagonist Terry.
The story began with Terry and Catherine conversing over Caroline, who had been going to her parents' house to help out her mother, only to suddenly return with cuts and bruises. Catherine stated that Caroline's injuries were caused by her clumsiness, but Terry became concerned over Caroline becoming absent-minded. Despite this, Catherine turned down Terry's suggestion that Caroline shouldn't go to her parents' house as much, and the suggestion was turned down by Paul (Catherine's husband) later in the story.
Paul shockingly contacted Terry to accuse him of abusing Caroline, claiming that there were fresh cuts and bruises on Caroline, while adding that the only time she's ever harmed is when she's at home with Terry. Terry denied everything, yet Paul stated that it would be best if Caroline remained with him and Catherine for the time being. However, Paul contacted Terry and admonished him over the fact that Catherine had been arrested, with Terry stating that he had called the police and the investigation revealed that Catherine had been abusing Caroline.
The story revealed that Catherine had been abusing Caroline for years, forcing her to act as her personal servant and work for her. The villainess became angered when Caroline married Terry, and while continuing to put her daughter to work, Catherine started beating her with her cane, with Paul knowing about the abuse and attempting to accuse Terry to cover up his wife's actions. Later on, the evil Catherine confronted Terry and ordered both him and Caroline to pay her back, as she had to use her retirement money to bail herself out. The callous villainess boldly admitted to beating Caroline, comparing the situation to horse racing and adding that she had to "whip" Caroline to get her to fall in line.
Catherine also blamed Terry for her own actions, accusing her daughter's marriage of causing her to not be so obedient towards her, while referring to her actions as a "small matter" that Terry "got worked up over." After failing to get through to his evil mother-in-law, Terry informed Catherine that he and Caroline would be suing both parents, with Catherine acting shocked and claiming that she and Paul raised Caroline, even adding that Caroline should be paying her back for doing so. Terry's closing narration revealed that he and Caroline won the lawsuit and were paid in full by Paul, who divorced Catherine afterwards, and it was also revealed that Catherine had to work to pay for everything.
