Beverly Gamble, aka Tanya Glover (Amanda Righetti), is the hidden main villainess from "Deliver Us from Evil," episode 2.10 of L.A.'s Finest (airdate September 9, 2020).
Backstory/Introduction[]
Tanya Glover's backstory revealed that when she was 15, she was abducted and held captive by Wayland James, who tied her up and drugged her continuously. She was Wayland's earliest known victim, as he later abducted (and eventually killed) Karen Selby and Mallory Mitchell (aka Jen Striker, who eventually escaped, but was murdered in the end of Season One), before taking Mallory's sister, Emma Mitchell, in the events of the episode. The investigation uncovered that a car belonging to Beverly Gamble was connected to the abduction, leading to Syd Burnett and Ben Baines finding Beverly and interrogating her.
Beverly stated that she had driven the car to a nearby Wal-Mart, but Wayland told her to move the car. Baines' later inspection of the past abductions revealed that Tanya was a diabetic, and after Syd stated that she saw insulin inside Beverly's car, it led to the revelation that Beverly was Tanya Glover. During her latest interrogation with Syd and Baines, Beverly refused to be called by her real name, stating that Tanya was weak and a victim of Wayland. while also detailing everything that Wayland had done to her. In addition, Beverly revealed that she and Mallory were together in Wayland's home until she escaped, stating that Wayland loved Mallory and was angry over her escape, saying that Wayland threatened to kill Mallory if he saw her again.
Reveal and Death[]
Beverly was handed off to Michelle, a social worker, but not before sending a distress message to Wayland, under Syd and Baines' advisement. However, Wayland (after he was captured by the pair) denied killing Mallory/Jen and gave a cryptic reveal that Beverly/Tanya was actually his accomplice in Emma's abduction. As the episode's climax revealed, Tanya became enamored with Wayland entering Mallory's abduction, and became jealous of Wayland's fondness for Mallory--a sentiment she held on to long after Mallory's escape. The renamed Beverly ended up finding Mallory (who was going by Jen) while visiting Joseph Burnett's (Syd's father) bar, as Jen served as the bartender.
After continuously frequenting the bar to watch and stalk Jen, Beverly turned heel and stabbed Jen to death in a jealous rage. Later on, the evil Beverly colluded with Wayland to abduct Emma, and it was after her release that she killed Michelle and went after Emma, who had escaped from Wayland. Syd and Baines rushed to rescue Emma after the former coerced Emma's location from Wayland. All the while, Emma was pursued by Beverly and held at knifepoint by the villainess just as Syd arrived and confronted her. Beverly confessed to her collusion with Wayland, and admitted to killing Jen out of jealousy, stating that she did what she had to do and that finding her was happenstance. After Beverly lowered her weapon and Emma was freed, Baines heard gunshots and saw that Beverly had been shot to death. Though it was believed that Syd committed the shooting, a flashback scene shown in the season's penultimate episode revealed that Emma took Syd's gun and killed Beverly out of anger and revenge for her sister.
