Serial poisoner Beatrice O'Malley
Beatrice O'Malley (Veronica Cartrwright) is a villainess from "Daddy Cop," episode 5.13 of The Rookie (airdate January 24, 2023).
Backstory and Introduction[]
Beatrice O'Malley was introduced as the most recent employer for RJ Cash, who was found dead inside his storage unit, which was full of stolen goods. However, Beatrice's backstory revealed that she once worked as a nurse from 1996 until 2005, and at some point during her tenure, Beatrice turned heel and became a serial poisoner, killing nine of her patients by poisoning them with mercury. No motive was revealed for Beatrice's actions, and in 2005, the villainess ended up retiring from her profession due to her injured hip.
Reveal[]
Beatrice continued to unleash her heel persona after her retirement, doing so by poisoning RJ, resulting in RJ's death. In addition, the evil Beatrice also poisoned her caretaker, Sharona, who was shown with Beatrice during her interview detective Nyla Harper; an interview that saw Beatrice express her shock over RJ's death and speak fondly of him in response to Nyla's statement about RJ's criminal activities. Sharona was showing signs of Beatrice's poisoning, as she had a tremor during Beatrice's interview, and an autopsy confirmed that RJ's death was caused by mercury poisoning.
Nyla later interviewed Beatrice a second time, which saw her past as a nurse revealed, as well as the deaths of her patients. The villainess claimed not to remember the deaths, only for Nyla to reveal her connections to the patients and RJ, while revealing that Sharona was in the hospital due to Beatrice's actions. Afterwards, Beatrice thanked Nyla for catching her, with the statement serving as an official confession. Beatrice stated that she had no idea what caused her heel turn, while claiming that she felt like she was watching someone else. After thanking Nyla once again for stopping her, Beatrice was arrested.
