Barbara "Barb" Bennett (Abigail Fleck) is the main villainess from the 2019 short film, Murder U (release date December 5, 2019).
Barb is a college student at a school where teacher Scott Everett was found poisoned--he later passed on. Scott was found by main protagonist (and fellow teacher) Walter Green, and regarding Barb, she was one of many students questioned about Scott, with Barb speaking unfavorably about him. Their conversation also revealed that Barb had a crush on fellow student Ashley Monroe, leading Walter to convince Barb to gain the confidence to ask Ashley out on a date.
Afterwards, Barb approached Ashley while she was studying; starting a small conversation before asking Ashley out on a movie date. Later on, Barb and Ashley were shown conversing again, with Barb revealing that she was kicked out of the house once she turned 18, and that she had trouble making friends. Ashley originally expressed sympathy before revealing to Barb that she had a boyfriend who was a drug dealer, after which Alex Green (Walter's son) appeared and revealed herself as Ashley's boyfriend, leading to both Alex and Ashley mocking Barb and her attempt to hook up with the latter half of the couple.
Later that evening, Barb turned heel by entering Ashley's home and slashing Alex's throat, and afterwards, the deranged madwoman stabbed Ashley to death, while commenting that she was "doing this for us." Barb's heel turn came after several students revealed to Walter that Ashley had been in a three-month relationship with Scott, who stalked Ashley when she ended things--while it also led to the conclusion that Barb poisoned and eventually killed Scott out of jealousy. Three days later, Walter took notice of Barb's notebook, and was stunned to see drawings of Ashley inside before Barb took back the notebook.
Walter voiced his suspicions regarding Barb to detective Mike Torres, and in the film's climax, Walter went to Ashley's home after failing to get Alex on the phone. It was there that he spotted Barb studying next to Ashley's body, and once Barb walked away, Walter entered and learned that Ashley was dead, while also expressing horrific shock over seeing his son's slashed body. At that moment, the evil Barb emerged and stabbed Walter, who took out the knife and chased after the villainess in a rage.
As Walter stood over Barb with the knife, Torres entered and ordered Walter to put down his weapon. Barb flashed an evil smirk at Walter, who rose his knife in anger, leading Torres to shoot him down in response. Afterwards, Barb was interviewed by Torres about the events that occurred, claiming that she and Ashley were close, despite Torres later pointing out Barb's lack of knowledge over Ashley and Alex's relationship. The villainess later portrayed Walter as the actual killer; falsely claiming that he was jealous and obsessed with Ashley and killed Scott and his own son to have Ashley to himself. A month passed, and Barb's class received a new teacher, Sarah Reynolds, with the film ending with Barb smirking evilly as she gazed at Sarah.
