Barbara (Robin Strasser) was the main villainess from the 1973 film, The Bride (also known as Last House on Massacre Street).
Barbara was a wealthy socialite who was engaged to be married to her lover, David, despite the objections of her father, who served as David's boss. The wedding took place later in the film, but after the nuptials, David approached his ex-girlfriend, Ellen, leading to the pair engaging in an illicit tryst, with Barbara catching them in the act. In a rage, Barbara grabbed a pair of scissors and attacked David, injuring his left arm before admitting that her father was right about David, and it was followed by the enraged madwoman shrieking at her guests and destroying the wedding cake.
During the film's progression, David continued his relationship with Ellen, with Barbara having disappeared since the wedding. Barbara's father appeared to not know anything about his daughter's whereabouts, only revealing her backstory of deranged behavior, which included torturing and decapitating a chicken at a young age. David and Ellen found themselves as targets of harassment from a mysterious answering service who was believed to be Barbara, with the result seeing Ellen leave David afterwards, but in the film's climax, David appeared at an empty house that was supposed to be where he and Barbara would live after their wedding, and it was there that he encountered Barbara's father, who revealed that he was behind everything.
In addition, the father revealed that Barbara hung herself after her outburst at the wedding, showing her embalmed body to David before attacking him with an axe. An injured David rose up to see that Barbara was gone, and his search ended with Barbara appearing to David and taunting him, with David stating that he knew that she was alive. The maniacal villainess ordered David to consummate their marriage, doing so after trapping him in their bedroom, only for David to refuse and attempt to leave. However, David discovered that he couldn't open the door, and after Barbara does so, she revealed to David that not only was she actually deceased, so was David, as Barbara's father successfully killed him and was seen looking at David's corpse. It is revealed David and Barbara are both ghosts bound to the house. Barbara laughed maniacally as she informed the stunned David that they would be together for all eternity, and the film ended with the villainess chasing a screaming David around the house.
