Annie Dotson

The psychotic Annie Dotson

Annie Dotson (Parker McKenna Posey) was the main villainess from the 2023 Tubi film, The Assistant (release date January 20, 2023).

Backstory/Introduction[]

Annie Dotson's backstory revealed that she was the daughter of Daniella Morgan and Marcus Dotson, and she was actually one of a set of twin sisters. On the day of her birth, main protagonist Raven Fields had to fill in for the original OBGYN, and after Annie was delivered, Daniella went into shock, leaving Raven forced with the choice to save either Daniella or Annie's twin sister, named Heather. Raven's attempt to save both saw her revive Donna, though Heather ended up dying.

Annie learned about her deceased sister as she was continuously abused by Daniella, who blamed Annie for Heather's death, and throughout her life, Annie imagined that Heather was alive and spoke to her habitually. Prior to the film's events, Annie murdered her mother, and afterwards, she learned about Raven and her role in Annie's birth, and it was followed by Annie getting herself hired as the assistant for Raven, who became a prominent doctor.

After introducing herself to Raven, Annie displayed a cheery and grateful demeanor, and it was followed by Annie meeting Heather at a local restaurant and gushing about her job. However, after Raven discovers that Annie has been living at a homeless shelter, she invites Annie to live with her, and afterwards, Annie begins her plot to have Raven to herself, beginning with taking Raven's phone and block her boyfriend, Shawn, from contacting her. As a result of Annie's actions, Raven's relationship with Shawn was threatened, as Raven believed Shawn was cheating on her--an occurrence that happened once before.

All the while, Raven told Annie about her first delivery, with Annie praising her for rising above her ordeal. She continued to enjoy living with Raven, as well as her delusional conversations with Heather, but after Shawn returned and discovered that he was blocked by Raven on her phone, Annie started acting more hostile towards Raven, but quickly backtracked and apologized for her behavior. The madwoman charmed Shawn with her sweet demeanor, though she continued to plague Raven with her fits, which increased after Raven announced that she and Shawn were engaged.

Climax and Death[]

Later on, Annie started to dress exactly like Raven, doing so under the advisement of "Heather," with Raven being surprised by her new look. After overhearing Raven's conversation with her neighbor and best friend, Tiana, about Annie, the villainess broke into Tiana's home and brutally attacked her before leaving her for dead. As for Raven, she had learned the truth about Annie from Marcus, who revealed that Heather was Annie's deceased twin sister, with Raven realizing her connection to Annie.

At that moment, Annie appeared and revealed her true ties to Raven, while lashing out at Raven for letting her sister die and saving Daniella, as well as blame Raven for Heather's death and Annie's abusive upbringing. During her rant, the deranged Annie spoke to "Heather," which revealed that Annie killed her mother prior to the events, while Raven attempted to bring the villainess back to reality. Annie unleashed her gun and revealed her plan to kill Shawn, but when "Heather" ordered Annie to kill Raven, Annie to fire her gun and finally killed her imaginary sister.

Raven pleaded with Annie not to harm her, only for the villainess to state that she would only kill Shawn, adding that Raven was a better mother to her than Daniella was. When Shawn arrived, Annie shot him before engaging in a brawl with Raven, which ended with Raven disarming the madwoman. While Raven checked on Shawn, Annie charged at Raven with a knife, only stab Shawn instead (Shawn survived). A second brawl followed, but it would end with Annie shot to death by Tiana, who survived the attack.
