Angela Collins (Laurie Fortier) is the main villainess from the 2021 Lifetime film, Picture Perfect Lies (airdate June 27, 2021).
Backstory & Introduction[]
Angela Collins is a philanthropist and the wife of Spencer Collins, and the couple was introduced as the parents of Rachel Collins (the film's main protagonist), who was celebrating her 16th birthday in the film's opening. However, the couple's backstory revealed that they had made attempts to have children of their own, but couldn't due to Angela's infertility, and after being rejected during an attempt to adopt a child, Angela turned heel by masterminding a plan to abduct a child to raise with Spencer, who became complicit in his wife's plan.
As part of the scheme, Angela enlisted her sister, Jenny Burkett, to search for a child who resembled both Angela and Spencer, with Jenny finding four-year-old Rebecca Tomlinson and abducting her from a park in Colorado. Rebecca was given to Angela and Spencer, who renamed her Rachel and raised her as their daughter, with Angela later keeping Jenny with her at her charity to reward her for her role as a conspirator.
Events[]
Entering the events, however, Jenny became remorseful over her actions and planned to tell Rachel the truth about her identity, and after Spencer failed to get through to Jenny, Angela confronted her sister, leading to the villainess bludgeoning her sister to death to cover up her secret. After finding her "aunt" in the pool, Rachel and her best friend, Ava, began to investigate Jenny's death, though Rachel's questions regarding Jenny were answered with deceptions from Angela and Spencer, with the former claiming that Jenny was despondent over the loss of her daughter--who died at the age of four.
Rachel and Ava later went into Jenny's house, unaware that Angela had tracked the pair and entered the house in a hooded disguise. The villainess attacked Ava before being run off by Rachel, but afterwards, Rachel found a photo of a young girl believed to be Jenny's daughter, and later expressed shock after seeing that the girl in the photo was Rachel herself. After her discovery, Rachel confronted Angela and Spencer, with the latter now informing Rachel that Jenny was her biological mother, but gave her up to Angela due to not being ready to be a mother. Rachel's distrust in her parents increased after their encounter, and she and her boyfriend, Adam, looked further into Jenny's past.
Reveal & Arrest[]
After meeting Jenny's high school boyfriend, Adam and Rachel's online search ended up revealing that Rachel was Rebecca Tomlinson, who went missing years prior. However, Rachel ended up held at knifepoint by a disguised Spencer, while Angela knocked out Adam before the couple escaped. The climax saw the villainous couple track Adam and Rachel to the park, where Rachel reunited with her actual parents, Marcy and Ryan Tomlinson, but at that moment, the evil Angela appeared and removed her hood and mask while holding the group at gunpoint.
The maniacal villainess ordered Rachel to get away from the Tomlinsons under the claim that they were dangerous, but after Rachel refused, Angela claimed to be Rachel's mother--adding that she loved her and took care of her. Angela later revealed the entire truth about her inability to have children, and confessed to ordering Jenny to abduct Rachel so she could have a child of her own. In addition, the villainess admitted to killing Jenny, while lashing out at her for wanting to reveal the truth, and afterwards, Spencer arrived and went after Adam, leading to Angela attempting to kill Adam, only for her shot to strike Spencer and kill him instead. The film's final scenes showed Angela in a mental hospital, having been arrested for her various crimes, and she was watching Rachel on TV.
Trivia[]
