Psychotic kidnapper Amber
Amber Braeburn (Abigail Spencer) is a villainess from "Sob Stories," episode 8.09 of 9-1-1 (airdate March 6, 2025).
Background[]
Not much is known of her early life, except that her youth that she ran away from her mother. She wandered until she was abducted by an unnamed man who was implied to have abused her. Amber was able to escape and proceeded to report the man to the authorities, leading to his arrest. As a result, Amber became a cop, specializing in kidnappings.
Heel Turn[]
At the end of the episode, Maddie Han was reading her daughter a story before she went to the kitchen, where a figure entered the house and she believed it was her husband before she witnessed a masked figure enter. Without being able to react, Maddie was struck in the head by the intruder, hearing them state they didn't want to do this but puts the blame on Maddie for forcing them while she was very groggy from the blow. After regaining some of her bearings, she sees the figure lower their mask to reveal the face of Det. Braeburn who remarks Maddie will be upset with her later before she is drugged and knocked out.
Abduction[]
Braeburn took Maddie to a secluded location, where the latter awoke to hearing Braeburn arguing with herself. It is revealed that Braeburn has a dissociative personality, one feeling remorse for her crimes and the other trying to steel her to continue. Braeburn noticed Maddie witnessing her acts, before telling her it was a private conversation and drugged her again.
Death[]
Amber nearly shoots Chimney but is struck in the head with a frying pan by Maddie, who was clinging to life. After Maddie collapses and is helped by her husband, Amber arises and tries to kill the pair, but she is shot in the head by Athena Nash, killing her. Maddie was able to survive, as paramedics were called by her husband and she was relieved Braeburn was gone.
