The evil Amanda Roberts
Amanda Roberts (Eli Jane) is the main villainess from the 2022 Lifetime film, Your Boyfriend is Mine (airdate March 19, 2022).
Backstory and Introduction[]
Amanda Roberts is a successful businesswoman whose backstory only revealed that she and her brother, Walker, were bounced around from various homes after their father left them. She had built a successful business for herself, but entering the film's events, Amanda had taken in an assistant, James Yates, though in actuality, James was hired as a manservant for Amanda, whose demands and controlling behavior led to James being fed up in the film's opening scene. Amanda ordered James not to leave, and after he walked off, Amanda contacted Walker and ordered him to kill James, which he does after James leaves a bar.
Events[]
Later on, Amanda met budding veterinarian (and main protagonist) Ben Howard, and quickly became enamored with Ben, to the point where she ordered Walker to track Ben. Walker's protests were met with emotional blackmail from Amanda, who later approached Ben on the following day and offered him a position as her assistant, while also showing dismay over the appearance of Ben's girlfriend, Calli Gordon. Ben accepted the job, and was quickly introduced to Amanda's demands and constant calls, which were also noticed by Calli. One call had Ben returning to Amanda's house after a supposed break-in, leading to Amanda suggesting that Ben move in to her house and also having various cameras installed all over the house.
In addition, Amanda made promises that she would help Ben realize his dream of opening a veterinary clinic, and even allowed Ben to have Calli spend two days a week at the house to appease him. However, the villainess overheard Ben's call to Calli, where Ben referred to Amanda as being "moody," and revealed his plans to move in with Calli. After the pair returned home from a business gathering, Amanda coerced Ben to have a drink with her, with the scheming villainess drugging Ben's drink and watching as Ben downed the concoction. Afterwards, Amanda laid down next to the incapacitated Ben, who woke up and discovered that he was in bed with Amanda--who claimed that they had an illicit tryst.
Ben's attempt to explain things to Calli was met with deaf ears, as Amanda sent photos of herself with Ben to Calli's phone, causing Calli to break up with Ben due to her belief that he cheated on her. Ben angrily confronted Amanda, who was wearing Calli's planned engagement ring, and was set on leaving the house, until he ended up shoved down the stairs by Amanda, resulting in Ben breaking his leg. Ben woke up chained to the bed by Amanda, who responded to Ben's screams for help upon seeing Calli arrive at the house by reminding him that the room was soundproof, while also threatening to kill Calli if Ben continued to "misbehave."
Climax & Arrest[]
Amanda informed Calli that Ben left her house, with the villainess showing a doctored video to prove her false statement. Afterwards, Amanda ordered Walker to head to Calli's home, under the claim that Ben was blackmailing and harming her, and later that evening, Amanda ordered Ben to give up the password to his phone, with Ben refusing to do so until he was shown video of Walker entering Calli's home with a knife. The villainess threatened to order Walker to kill Calli and Harrison (Ben's best friend), leading to Ben giving up his password and then telling Calli and Harrison not to look for him. Amanda expressed glee over Ben following her orders, but on the following day, she received a call from Walker that stated that Calli and Harrison went to the police.
Ben assured Amanda that the pair wouldn't be believed by the police, and while being served dinner, Ben pocketed a knife and later used it to order Amanda to release him. However, the evil Amanda revealed that she had drugged Ben beforehand, just in case Ben "misbehaved" again, and she later called Walker and sent him back to Calli's house to kill Calli and Harrison--successfully killing the latter before he was fought off by the former. Walker later arrived at Amanda's house and informed his sister about his mission, only to find Ben chained up and suddenly realize that Amanda was lying to him. Walker ordered Amanda to release Ben, even holding his sister at gunpoint, leading to a scuffle that ended with Walker shot to death.
The film's climax saw Amanda inform Ben that both Calli and Harrison were murdered, and in response to Ben's anger, the villainess informed Ben that he would be accused in the murders, as she also had Walker drive Ben's car as part of her plan to frame Ben. The evil madwoman ordered Ben to continue to please her under the threat of completing her frame job, adding that she would be willing to send Ben to prison if she couldn't have Ben to herself. Amanda was later visited by Detectives Moreno and Fisher, who asked Amanda about Ben, with the deceptive villainess claiming that she and Ben were in a relationship and portraying Ben as being domineering and wanting to make Calli jealous. Ben attempted to get the detectives' attention by blasting music, but ended up failing and resulting in Amanda attacking Ben's bad leg with a fireplace poker in anger.
Once Amanda left the house, Calli entered looking for Ben, only for Amanda to return when she saw that Calli was in the house. After finding Calli, Amanda threatened to call the police, with Calli stating that they would search the house, after which Amanda allowed Calli inside the room where Ben was held captive. After Calli entered, Amanda arrived with a gun in an attempt to kill her, which was followed by Calli disarming the villainess and later knocking her out. Amanda was arrested and sent to prison in the film's final scenes, which saw the deranged psychopath beam over one of the guards serving her, as she obsessively gushed over the fact that he remembered to deliver extra basil in her meal.
